Strengthening specialized delivery based on Daejeon Mega Hub Responding to customer needs from same-day delivery to Sunday delivery ![]() Hanjin's specialized delivery service has been expanded to include same-day delivery to the U.S., the Naver Arrival Guarantee, and even Sunday delivery, with a guarantee of delivery time. To this end, Hanjin built and operated the Daejeon Mega Hub Terminal, which can handle 1.2 million boxes per day, earlier this year and strengthened its hub-and-spoke delivery system in preparation for the growing volume of domestic parcel delivery. As a result, the company has laid the foundation for specialized delivery by shortening up to two hours compared to the existing work time and enabling transshipment across the country even in the middle of the night. In particular, Hanjin has gradually expanded its delivery service in conjunction with Naver Fulfillment Alliance (NFA), offering 'guaranteed arrival' to regions across the country, and in February, it launched 'Sunday delivery,' expanding weekend delivery from Saturday to Sunday. Currently, Hanjin carries out last-mile delivery for a total of three NFAs, and the volume has more than tripled over the past year and a half. In particular, the most basic form of NAVER's Guaranteed Arrival, which allows customers to receive goods the next day if they place an order by 24 hours, has a delivery rate of 99 percent. NAVER's Sunday Delivery, which guarantees delivery on the next day, Sunday, for orders placed before 22:00 on Saturday, is currently available in the Seoul area and will be expanded to Gyeonggi Province in the future. In addition, we are accelerating the expansion of same-day delivery for domestic and international products. In addition to continuing to expand the U.S. direct-to-consumer same-day delivery area, we plan to implement NFA same-day delivery in Korea in the third quarter. This means that orders placed at 11 a.m. on the same day will arrive in Seoul and the Seoul metropolitan area on the same day, enabling customers to enjoy comfortable same-day shopping, including weekends. Since 2021, Hanjin has been offering a direct same-day delivery service for goods received through the US direct channel, which completes same-day delivery upon customs clearance before 11am. It started with 10 districts in Seoul and is currently expanding its same-day delivery area to include all of Seoul and densely populated areas in Gyeonggi-do. Other specialized delivery services include same-day delivery of clothing and heavy parcel delivery. In the case of same-day delivery of clothing, if the order is received 24 hours in advance, the product is picked up at Dongdaemun around 1 a.m. and delivered to Seoul on the same day, a system that has been in place since August last year. In addition, the heavy goods delivery service is specialized for sending and receiving heavy goods such as bottled water and beverages. Meanwhile, Hanjin has developed and operates its own customer experience index (CXI) to maximize customer satisfaction. As of March, Hanjin's last-mile same-day delivery rate was 99 percent, the return collection rate was 85 percent, and the delivery confirmation texting rate was 98 percent, as customer satisfaction with fast delivery has increased since the operation of the Daejeon Mega Hub. ¡°As consumers diversify their shopping needs, distribution channels are also undergoing rapid changes,¡± said an official from Hanjin. ¡±In response to customer needs, Hanjin is striving to improve customer satisfaction by developing new services and expanding infrastructure for safer and faster delivery.¡± <Copyright ¨Ï Monthly Logistics Magazine (www.ulogistics.co.kr) All rights reserved> |
